Wayne Niles

The day Wayne Niles lost his job in sales was also the day he filled out his application form for a PATH placement.  Wayne's placement was a 6 month training scheme with Ralph Thorsby School, which provided him with the opportunity to mentor BME pupils within the Leeds High School. While training, Wayne helped mentor secondary BME pupils who often had behavioural problems and barriers to learning. Amoungst other trainees, Wayne attended a two day induction in which he was prepared for his placement and offered guidance from his PATH case worker.
Like many other PATH trainees, Wayne has secured full-time employment with his employer. "The day I lost my job is a day I wont forget," he says. "I faced an uncertain future, little did I realise that a new door was opening at the same time. The support PATH has provided has been invaluable, you'd think I'd won the lottery the way I feel, thank you."
Wayne went on to win an award at the PATH End of Year Awards Ceremony, in which he won "Outstanding Trainee of the Year 2010". He descibes this as "an unexpected bonus after such a fulfilling job training experience"

 Yu Wang

After completing her MBA in 2003, Yu began working as a customer services manager for a Chinese company based in Leeds for a total of 6 years. As a lone parent, she resigned from the job in 2009 to better look after her young daughter.
But when trying to get back into employment, like many, Yu found it very difficult. She acknowledges that there were many factors preventing her to get back into employment such as language barriers and child care demands, as well as acknowledging the recession and cultural barriers may also have been a contributory factor. Yu was introduced to PATH through one of her friends and was delighted with her placement as Administrative Assistant in British company, DISC. She says "I have learned and improved my skills and knowledge as well as experience of working within a busy and friendly team".

In gaining a placement through PATH, Yu has a new found confidence and has dramatically improved language skills which Yu found beneficial. "I love everything about the training", she says. "I would encourage everyone I know who meets the requirements of PATH to register and grab every opportunity they have to offer".

 Wellington Moyo

Wellington was suffering with low self esteem after searching for a work and training opportunity without success. His interest lay in helping others within the community, and he had already worked as a domestic worker previously but was now looking for work.
After his previous boss recommended PATH to him, he saw an opening for a Trainee Development Worker for African Communities in Bradford. He found his experience witin the PATH programme and on the job experience, life-changing. He says: "The PATH placement made me realise what I wanted to do, it has changed my life forever. I always looked down on myself, not knowing what I can do best in life but this training has been the greatest opportunity - it made me realise what I wanted to do, it has changed my life forever"
Wellington was offered a job with the employer he undertook the training placement with, both the organisation, and Wellington have benefited enormously from the scheme.
