PATH Yorkshire supports employers to take steps in addressing Black and Ethnic Minority (BME)
under-representation through Positive Action Training. By definition Positive Action Training is ‘Measures
that can be taken to meet special needs, to train or encourage people from a certain racial group that is
under-represented in particular work’ Section 37 & 38 of the Race Relations Act
council.
From the moment your organisation comes into contact with PATH Yorkshire, your understanding
of the needs of the different BME communities across Yorkshire will grow.
PATH will discuss your diversity need in a non-judgmental way and begin the process which will help you
to host a PATH Traineeship. When you begin to look at your organisation’s diversity need, you may notice that
addressing subtle cultural sensitivities will allow your organisation to identify and deal with challenges in
a pro-active way.
Your organisation may begin to address long standing
misconceptions related to your industry or sector. You will be invited to join
PATH to instigate sustainable change at a strategic level. PATH can support your
organisation’s diversity strategy in line with the initiatives with agencies,
such as: Sector Skills Councils, Sector Skills Development Agency, Chambers of
Commerce and the Regional Development Agency in working towards diversity.
As you learn more about the needs
of the different BME communities, your
organisation will benefit from attracting
both applicants and customers from
a wider audience.
